We are back after our summer break, and there has been a few changes at our Monday morning sessions.
We now meet at Burton Stone Community Centre, where the other AbleWeb activities take place. We have settled in well, although we miss going to Explore York. Our thanks to the Library staff for having us and helping us.
Kirsty has found a new full time job, which sadly means she can no longer join in our sessions. She came to the first session of this term to say goodbye to us, and we all had a chance to wish her the best of luck for the future. Kirsty’s place in the group has been taken by John, who is the other trainer at KhaoZ Media, and he has already become a welcome member of the AbleWeb Radio group.
A new member has joined us for our Monday sessions. Simone began with us at the start of term, and she has picked up the radio production skills we have learned very quickly. It’s a pleasure to have Simone in our group.
In our sessions so far this term, we have been working on editing down our launch show. When we made it, it ended up lasting 40 minutes, so we wanted to make it shorter and snappier. We have completed our work polishing the links, and we hope to have the new edit of the launch show online soon.
Our other main project this term is to cover a conference which is taking place in York about music and inclusivity. Members of the AbleWeb Radio group will be recording interviews with people attending the event, while other members are going to be running workshops and taking part in performances.
The conference takes place on Saturday 5th November from 10am to 3pm at York St John University, and we shall feature our coverage in our end of term programme.
That’s all from us for now. We will bring you an update on AbleWeb Radio soon.
With best wishes,
The Ableweb Radio Team
